Holly Woodlawn currently resides in Los Angeles. She continues to make personal appearances and perform at nightclubs. On September 30, 2007 she appeared at the Drill Hall in London in conjunction with an exhibition of paintings of her by Sadie Lee (www.andthenhewasashe.com). Her most recent screen appearance was in East of the Tar Pits, directed by Gary LeGault.
In January 2004, she was admitted to intensive care after complications from an operation on her arm and shoulder which she broke during a fall. The New York Post incorrectly reported that she was in a coma. Holly survived her hospital stay and is currently planning a film based on her autobiography, The Holly Woodlawn Story: A Low Life in High Heels.
Holly also appeared in Allan Mindel's film, Milwaukee, Minnesota (2003), with Randy Quaid, Bruce Dern and Josh Brolin. She was also interviewed extensively in Craig Highberger's documentary on Jackie Curtis, Superstar in a Housedress (2004). On Saturday, August 14, 2004, Holly returned to New York to perform her cabaret act at at the Fez Under Time Cafe. While in New York, she also performed at Wigstock, singing the Lou Reed song, Walk on the Wild Side.
